Local Walks & Scenic Drives

Walkers (and Strollers)

The Vale of Belvoir is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Walkers & strollers are spoilt for choice, the level walking along the Grantham Canal, the jubilee walk towards Belvoir Castle, for the more adventurous tramp along the Viking Way, wander through Muston Meadow Nature Reserve, or just explore the pretty local villages.

We have planned circular walks starting at the cottage of 1, 3, 8 and 12 miles. The “Reader’s Digest” book of “The most amazing places to walk in Britain” has one of these walks on Page 140. Within 300 metres you can access 26 miles of canal towpath and 140 miles of the Viking Way.

Cyclists

We are on the Sustrans “Rose and Castle” route and very close to National Cycle Routes 15 and 64. If you have not been on a bike for years and would like to potter we have a pair of Claude Butler tourers which you are welcome to borrow. The 6 mile ride along the well-surfaced canal towpath towards Grantham is a good place to start as there are no cars.

Drivers

We also have planned circular drives that take in scenic parts of the countryside not usually visited.
